The Butterfly

You don't know me
You think you do
My face is a mask
None can see through.
I've built walls
They're all around
To keep me safe
You'll make no ground.
Here in my cocoon
Is where I'll stay
Where no-one sees me
I'll hide away.
But I am trapped
I need to break free
I've created a prison
Only for me.
It's lonely in here
It's time to come out
And find out what life
Is really about.
Can I trust them?
I don't know
But I want to be free
So I'll give it a go.
Instead of a cocoon
I'm now wrapped in wings
I feel so happy
With all life brings.
I look in the mirror
A butterfly I see
To my surprise
The butterfly's me.
